Our headmaster is Dr. Henry G. Selby, beginning his 33rd year in education. He comes to us from
Bluffton, South Carolina, where he was the first headmaster of Cross
Episcopal School. He has also served schools in Virginia and
Florida.
Dr. Selby received his bachelor’s
degree from the University of the South (Sewanee) and both his
master’s and doctorate from Canterbury Theological School of the
University of Kent. He has pursued additional graduate work at The
College of Charleston, St. Mary’s Seminary and University,
Kennedy-Western University, and the University of Virginia.
A sought-after presenter for
educational seminars, Dr. Selby has been a keynoter at the annual
meetings of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, the
Florida Foreign Language Association, the South Carolina Independent
School Association, and many others. He has also published original
poetry as well as scholarly works.
Don’t make any mistake, however!
He’s a real “down-to-earth guy” as one of our parents describes
him. Playing guitar or shooting hoops with students, Dr. Selby’s
Christian faith and enthusiasm for our school is contagious. We
hope you’ll catch it!
The Selby family boasts two daughters
(Lillian, a graphic designer in Baltimore, and Caroline, a senior at
the College of Charleston) and a son, Hank. Dr. Selby lives in
Morristown with his wife Cindy and their fifth grader, Hank.
